What is a Text Case Converter?

A text case converter is basically a tool that changes the capitalization of your text. Instead of retyping everything by hand, you just paste your text and instantly convert it to uppercase, lowercase, title case, or whatever format you need.

It comes in handy when you've copied text from a PDF that's all caps, got an email with weird formatting, or just need to quickly format some headings for your content.

What's the Difference Between Title Case and Sentence Case?

Title Case capitalizes the first letter of the major words in a phrase. Minor words like "the," "and," "of," and "in" stay lowercase unless they're the first word. This is the standard format you see for headlines and book titles.

For example, "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" becomes "The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog"

Sentence Case only capitalizes the first letter of the first word and proper nouns, just like you'd write a normal sentence. You'll usually see this used for body text and descriptions.

For example, "THE QUICK BROWN FOX" becomes "The quick brown fox"

When Should I Use Uppercase vs. Lowercase?

UPPERCASE works well in a few situations.

  • Acronyms and abbreviations like NASA, HTML, and SEO.
  • Headlines where you need to grab attention.
  • Legal documents or anything with specific formatting rules.
  • Marketing materials where you want visual impact.

lowercase is more common for other things.

  • URLs and slugs since they're easier to read and type.
  • Email addresses.
  • Hashtags and social media handles.
  • Code variables and file names.

How Do the Text Cleanup Options Work?

Remove Extra Spaces takes multiple consecutive spaces and collapses them into a single space. It's great for cleaning up text you've copied from websites or documents with weird formatting.

Remove Line Breaks converts all your text into a single paragraph by getting rid of the line breaks. This is really useful when you've copied text from a PDF that has breaks at the end of every line.

Trim Line Whitespace removes extra spaces at the beginning and end of each line but keeps the line breaks intact. It's perfect for cleaning up code or indented text.
